Measurement of a p-type coaxial HPGe detector total and photopeak efficiencies including self-absorption for cylindrical sources

Abstract

Total and photopeak efficiencies and the source self-absorption of a p-type coaxial HPGe detector for cylindrical sources have been measured experimentally and compared with published theoretical calculations. In the experiments gamma aqueous sources containing several radionuclides covering the energy range from 279 to 1333 keV were used. By comparison, the experimental and theoretical full-energy peak efficiency values are in good agreement.
